Typical SPG Trench Cover applications are for utility access, industrial walkways, cable ducts, pits and any other Trench that requires a fixed or removal cover.
What Material are Staircare Progrit (SPG) Trench Covers made from and why?
SPG Trench Covers are square mesh grating with a solid Top Cover made from high-performance GRP (Glass Fibre Reinforced Plastic) also known as FRP, that is light weight , corrosion resistant, non-conductive and virtually maintenance free. The surface can also include a silicon carbide anti slip grit for superior slip protection.
What load ratings and sizes are available?
SPG Trench covers are custom built to your trench cover dimensions and load requirements. Typical load requirements range from 2kPa to 5kPa . this will typically affect the trench cover thickness. Trench covers can be load tested to comply with AS1657-2018 Appendix D. For example, recently supplied footbridge trench cover panels 1476mm wide x 55mm thick independently tested to clients requirements for 5kPa distributed panel load.
Are these Trench Covers slip resistant and safe for pedestrians?
Yes, Staircare Progrit Trench Covers are finished with a silicon carbide anti slip grit that offers exceptional slip protection in wet and oily conditions. Tested to :-
AS 4586-2013 Slip Resistance Classification of New Pedestrian Surface Materials, including:-
- Appendix A: Wet Pendulum Test – Class P5
- Appendix B: Dry Floor Friction Test – Class D1
- Appendix D: Oil-Wet Inclining Platform Test – Slip resistance assessment group R12
Can I install and remove covers myself?
SPG Trench Covers are custom made and are easy to be installed, they usually sit on a recess and are made to be flush with the surface. They can be supplied with lifting lug cut outs for easy removal. SPG Trench Covers can be made to specific weight requirements especially if frequent removal is required. We recommend making this a 2 person lift.
