StairCare Projects - Ramps for Rail Maintenance Site - 'Reliance Rail Maintenance'
The Situation
This large rail maintenance building contains 16 concrete ramps used for both pedestrian and forklift traffic. The concrete ramps required an anti-slip solution that would be suitable for pedestrian, trolley and forklift use.
John Holland Pty Ltd engaged Staircare to design and test a suitable anti-slip system for the ramps.
The Solution
Staircare supplied and installed a test ramp with fibreglass reinforced SC-R plates, 4mm thick with heavy-duty silicon oxide grit. The material used for making the plates contained fire retardant, UV protection and is resilient to chemicals such as acid, alkali and solvent liquids. The plates were screwed & glued to the concrete substrate utilising polyurethane based glue and self-tapping concrete screws.
The SC-R plates successfully passed the 3 months test period and John Holland Pty Ltd awarded a contract to Staircare to supply and install all 16 ramps with SC-R anti-slip plates.
